Well, it's cold out, and everybody is sick. No surprise, but unfortunately, the cold bug has hit my household. After three days in a row of family and friends last weekend, one of the twins came down sick. It seemed like it started in her chest, but how do you ask a 22 month old when she first started feeling ill. For the most part, four teaspoons per day of elderberry syrup prevented the cold from getting any worse, and so far, her sister doesn't have it yet.
Mom and I have been using the elderberry lozenges all week. Friday night, at 11pm, she chewed up two of them and felt fine. When she rolled out of bed at 5:30am Saturday, a chest cold had already set in. No scratchy throat, just instant coughing. It's very weird. There's always been some kind of warning, but not this time. It's disappointing that the elderberry didn't stop it, but it is keeping two of us cold free.
Today, she feels much better. I had her take bee propolis all weekend, and she can't believe how good it makes her feel. Propolis is a really good anti-viral. We've never tried it before, but from now on, we'll will always have it on hand. ..........Matt
