Crystal Clear

I've found a new natural deodorant that is the best out there. It is the "Naturally Fresh Deodorant Crystal" by TCCD International. It contains no aluminum and is naturally fragrance free. Just wet the stick with some water and rub it on.

Of all the natural deodorants I've tried in the last five years, this one stops all odor for hours and hours and hours. I can't believe how good it is. Keep the aluminum out of your armpits. Pick up some and you'll see what I'm talking about. ...................Matt

So Much Cancer

My neighbor, who I've known for 7 years, has prostate cancer which has spread to his kidney. About five years ago, he told me that his PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels were high and he asked me to get him some pau d'arco. He stopped taking the supplement after one bottle. His PSA didn't go down.

I wanted him to take it longer, or use something stronger, but he decided to go in a different direction.

His son is a doctor in Minnesota. I'm sure he advised his father to reject natural treatment, and embrace conventional methods. He's had a couple of surgeries and multiple rounds of chemo. I don't see him much anymore. When I do, he has no energy and always feels sick. Because of the surgeries, heavy doses of antibiotics were prescribed but his doctor and son didn't tell him about probiotics.

It doesn't make any sense. How does a physician ignore the importance of this beneficial bacteria? Regardless, I gave him a package of probiotics because somebody needs to actually help this guy. I hope that my future post of this situation brings better news. ..................Matt

Frankenfurters

I was in charge of lunch for the twins, so I looked in the fridge for something easy to make. I found a box of "Morning Star" mini vegetarian corn dogs in the freezer which was a good choice because they don't need to eat meat for every meal. I read the ingredients to see if everything was kosher. It wasn't. These "corn dogs" should only be served to people that you hate. Here are the red flags that should be avoided when possible.

The label reads: wheat gluten, enriched wheat flour, corn meal, sugar, soybean oil, corn starch, corn syrup, hydrolyzed corn wheat and soy protein, spices, hydrolyzed yeast, autolyzed yeast extract, red #3 and blue #1. I'm not even going to talk about the artificial colors and 580 mg of sodium for 4 tiny, veggie weiners.

Understand, wheat, corn and soy isn't bad until it's enriched or hydrolyzed or genetically modified. Hydrolyzed protein and autolyzed yeast extract is another name for MSG.
And what about the origin of the wheat, corn, and soy found in this product. Nowhere on the package do they make the claim about GMO free ingredients. In fact, Kellogg, who makes these vegetable atrocities, has already admitted to using GMO ingredients in their corn dogs. Are you and your kids eating genetically modified food packed with MSG? Most likely you are, and if you're vegetarian.... it's a good idea to search for another brand.

http://www.organicconsumers.org/ge/kellstar.cfm

http://www.truthinlabeling.org/hiddensources.html

Kellogg’s has worked to block US legislation requiring producers to label items containing GMOs.

Kellogg was part of the Coalition Again$t the Costly Labeling Law, a group of companies that worked against Oregon’s Measure 27, which would have required the labeling of GMO products sold in that state. The company donated $60,000 to defeat the Measure.

Kellogg announced that the company will begin using an oil named Vistive, made from Monsanto's genetically modified soybeans. Kellogg says it is one of the first food manufacturers to use the oil to lower levels of trans fat and saturated fat in its products. Vistive will not be added to Kellogg cereals that are already trans fat-free, but other products will contain the genetically modified ingredient.

Dip Dip A Do

I tried to figure out how to tie this in with natural health, but I couldn't come up with anything other than the usual "laughter is the best medicine" connection. This really will make you feel better. No drugs, no supplements, just Feldman. Let it out. .....Matt

I don't know of any supplement that can cure his wife's embarrassment.

Supplements From A Master

Thursday, a new line of supplements arrived at the store. The brand, "Dr. Christopher's" is named after the master herbalist himself, Dr John Christopher. His herbal formulas were created to cleanse the blood and nourish the body.

His philosophy is simple. "Dr. Christopher believed that there were no incurable diseases, only that there are incurable people who will not adhere to this simple process of first cleansing the body of toxins and then nourish the body with good wholesome foods and then finally use the God given herbs which have been used safely for thousands of years to help the body heal itself."

Check them out when you come in, and of course, we're always looking for feedback.

Radiation Head

Do cell phones cause brain cancer? Was Sen Kennedy's brain cancer caused by his heavy cell phone usage, or is he finally being punished for Chappaquiddick?

Research indicates a link, and I agree. The radio frequency that carries the information from your phone is the same as the frequency emitted from your microwave. And you wouldn't hold the microwave up to your head for a half an hour, would you?

Limit your use, get one with an ear piece, put it on speaker phone mode, and don't let your child have one. I prefer not to answer the phone. It works for me.

If it really is true, then everybody is at risk. Read about the dangers and ignore any advice from the "Wireless Association" and the American Cancer Society. ...........Matt

The ADHD/Sugar Connection

I just finished watching Dora the Explorer. Her trip to Treasure Island was fascinating. Dora, along with her monkey and cow sidekicks, rescued a baby jaguar and sailed off into the sunset.

My girls are calm enough to sit in their chair watch their favorite show, as long as there's no sugar involved. I've been parenting long enough to know, that any type of sugar will cause kids to spiral into a world of hyperactivity. That means more stress for mom and dad and a trip to the pediatrician for answers.

The diagnosis....ADHD. Or at least, that's what the experts say. Now, just between you and me, I know my kids don't have ADHD, and neither do most of the children in America. But, a few grams of sugar later, every child has ADHD and drugs are the only option.

Big Pharma couldn't be happier. Their ADD/ADHD drug sales have reached one zillion dollars.(don't ask for my source on that one) Parents are convinced their child has a disease, and pro-drug websites like this one by Corey Naham validate their concerns.

"If you are a kid with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD), you have a hard time sitting still, paying attention or controlling your behavior. You could be the smartest kid in the class but you are always getting into trouble. The teacher is talking about one thing, but your mind is somewhere else."

"Many parents are unsure of whether or not they should give their children medicines to treat their ADD/ADHD. They are not sure why they are opposed to it but they just don't feel it is the right thing to do. Some parents feel that the potential side effects of giving stimulants to kids outweigh the benefits. You need to realize that your child is suffering. These medicines can help dramatically. It is unfair to your child to not at least try the drugs. It is no fun having ADHD. Kids with ADHD know that they are different. They might not understand what exactly is going on, but they know that they are always getting into trouble at school."

"The trouble is that your child may start to believe he is defective because of the friction he is constantly involved in. These feelings can cause a child to become frustrated and angry.
Don't make your child suffer just because you are philosophically opposed to giving them drugs. You should not go into this with your mind already made up. Keep an open mind. Try the drugs for a couple of weeks. If your children get side effects you can always discontinue the drug. But if they work your child's life (and yours too) will run much smoother - less crying, less yelling, less frustration."

I'm sold. He makes a good point. His Jedi mind trick has almost convinced me to start taking these drugs. Or, you could just change their diet. I know that a glass of juice and a banana equals "no nap", and a piece of cake equals chaos. It is that simple.

Instead of drugging your child, replace the cookies with something nutritious, and watch the symptoms disappear. .............Matt

Annoying Allergy Cough

Pollen levels are up and so are allergy symptoms. One common symptom is the allergic cough.

That dry, irritating cough your child has can last for weeks when airborne particulates like pollen, mold spores and dust increase during the summer months. Don't rush to the store and buy some ineffective OTC meds. Help boost your immune system with honey.

I would try this first with kids as long as they are not allergic to it. No pills are needed. You're just adding something to their diet. Search for a brand that is local, and stick with it. You'll be pleased with the results. ...............Matt

The best homemade cough syrup that is effective in treating allergy cough is a mixture of one part of lemon juice with two parts of honey. You can take this mixture whenever you need and as many times as required. This syrup is effective for children from age of one year. (allergyasthmazone.com)

Tom Ogren, a California horticulturalist and botanist who advocates local honey (meaning honey harvested within a few miles of where you live), said that bees in any given area "will visit all the flowers that produce pollen" in that area and that this honey will therefore contain pollen from the plants you frequently encounter and may be allergic to.
"If you take small amounts daily, it's like getting allergy shots" because you may become desensitized to the pollens, he said. "I hear from people who are crazy about the results they get" from this, he added. (ofspirit.com)

Another Case of Lyme Disease

As it turns out, the lady I was telling you about does not have West Nile after all. The tests are back, and the answer is Lyme Disease. Listen, I know deer are pretty to look at, but they like to stand on roads and spread ticks. Lots of ticks. And those ticks are nasty. Check yourself for ticks or do what you can to keep exposure to a minimum. Thankfully, insurance companies are taking the lead by releasing cougars into the wild to cut down on the deer population. Their actually reducing claims and Lyme Disease at the same time. Go thank your agent.

There's another guy that I speak with often. He's had Lyme for a couple of years and has steadily improved with supplementation. She will do the same, and I have no doubt that the end result will be a normal life.

What is Lyme disease? It is a tick-borne, infectious syndrome caused by the Borrelia burgdorferi organism, which originates from the bite of an infected deer tick. What are the symptoms? Flu-like feelings, headaches, fever, muscle aches, and fatigue are the most common. You basically feel like you have the flu 24 hours a day.

Prolonged antibiotic therapy is the recommended treatment for this disease, but that's not going to be enough. She needs to take essential fatty acids, CoQ10, a B-complex, probiotics, a mushroom formula, and a green drink, to make life as normal as possible. I'd also try neem or black seed. Any other ideas? .......Matt

IV-C

I've heard a lot of talk about the West Nile virus this summer. A "regular" store patron and friend of mine, has been in a compromised condition over the last few months. Doctors don't know what's wrong with her. Tests have not confirmed anything.

But, she thinks that she has the virus. Proving it is a little more complicated.

(from the CDC division of infectious diseases)

Q. How are human cases of WNV diagnosed?

A. West Nile virus (WNV) infection can be suspected in a person based on clinical symptoms and patient history. Laboratory testing is required for a confirmed diagnosis.

The most commonly used WNV laboratory test measures antibodies that are produced very early in the infected person. These antibodies, called IgM antibodies, can be measured in blood or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which is the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This blood test may not be positive when symptoms first occur; however, the test is positive in most infected people within 8 days of onset of symptoms.

A test for WNV IgM-antibody is used by CDC, state and local public health labs and increasingly at private laboratories. When testing is conducted at private laboratories, the health department or CDC will often confirm results in their own laboratories before officially reporting WNV cases.
In some instances, health departments may conduct or request additional testing from CDC before officially reporting a case to CDC's ArboNET Surveillance System. The state or CDC reference laboratory may repeat the initial IgM-antibody testing.
A state may also perform or ask CDC to perform an additional, different test on a specimen. This latter test (plaque reduction neutralization test [PRNT]) is usually performed when:
the state finds its initial case(s) of human WNV illness,
IgM results are not definitive due to equivocal laboratory testing results or insufficient specimens,
the patient might have been exposed to other closely related viruses (like St. Louis encephalitis virus) which may result in a "false" positive laboratory test for WNV.

What they're saying is... it's not real easy to tell if somebody actually has WNV. You have a small window of opportunity to test for it. You may not have any symptoms for months which makes it much more difficult to accurately diagnose. False positives are common so a spinal tap could be recommended. Do you have these symptoms?

High fever
Severe headache
Stiff neck
Disorientation or confusion
Stupor or coma
Tremors or muscle jerking
Signs and symptoms of Parkinson's disease
Lack of coordination
Convulsions
Partial paralysis

I searched the internet for any natural substance that's had success against West Nile. I found this story about two men in Colorado who were cured of the disease with high dose, intravenous vitamin C. The Boulder County Health Dept ignored the results and the media didn't want to cover this story. In case you missed it, read on. ....................Matt

Store Stories

Yesterday, myself and another employee talked a mom out of vaccinating her son. He is six months old but has been sick recently. She was taking him in today for the first round of multiple shots, even though she questioned the safety. I told her about other parents that came in after the vaccinations were administered. I'll never forget their stories, even though doctors are quick to dismiss them.

We convinced her, but I think she just wanted to hear somebody else tell her not to do it. At the very least, she'll wait until he is three years old... and only one shot at at time. You made the right decision.

Today, I talked with a lady who has been coming to the store for about 2.5 years. When she first came in, she looked rough. She was in lots of pain and totally depressed. Doctors had diagnosed her with fibromyalgia. After high doses of prescription drugs, and every test you can think of, doctors said there was nothing they could do.

She hurt to the touch. The sheet on her bed put too much pressure on her skin, and left her writhing in pain. Things have changed drastically.

She detoxed. She changed her diet (no sugar or processed foods) Her main supplements are fish oil, malic acid and magnesium, and "Curamin." The difference these supplements have made is clearly visible on her face. She is a perfect example of how to overcome this debilitating disease.

Real testimonials from real people are priceless. .......Matt

New Stuff

What's new? There are a few things...

1.) The store opening in Bloomington has been pushed back to mid August. Be patient, these things take time.

2.) We have some new neti pots along with a unique nasal rinsing system. Wash away pollen and mold spores and feel better.

3.) Solaray has a new line of food source supplements. They are cultivated in a nutrition media of saccharomyces cerevisiae and combined with enzymes for maximum bioavailability. Food grown nutrients are the next generation of vitamins, and they are gluten free.

4.) We have stocked reusable, dishwasher safe, 100% recycled plastic plates and cups from a company called Preserve. It's a great product for the eco-minded.

5.) And speaking of the environment... we carry Greenware cups that are 100% compostable and made from corn. Corn....it's not just for breakfast anymore.

6.) Enzymatic Therapy has a new line called "True Organics" that are USDA organic. They carry everything from vitamin C, vitamin B-12 and cranberry capsules. No questionable ingredients here.

That's it for now. ...................Matt

The Village of Long Life

The Story Behind Hyaluronic Acid: In Yuzurlhara, a small Japanese village outside Tokyo, 10 times as many people live past the age of 85 than anywhere in the United States. The inhabitants also age healthier, enjoy great joint mobility, healthy vision and display unusually smooth and well-toned skin… even after spending decades farming in the sun. Scientists and researchers have examined the reasons for this selective longevity and have determined that a key component is Hyaluronic Acid (HA). HA found in their local diet (in sticky vegetables) is the most likely factor. Network TV NEWS Stations have done fascinating stories on H.A. as well. Originally discovered in 1934, HA has been used topically as an aid to skin health and is found in many premium face creams. It is very safe to use. (thewolfeclinic.com)

Is hyaluronic acid the best anti-aging supplement ever? I don't know. I've never tried it, but that may change soon. I'm thinking about testing it out. (120mg per day for three months) That should be enough to see if it really is effective. If I do it, I'll take some pictures of the before and after wrinkles. Before I forget, there are many "health and beauty" topical forms of HA that make miraculous claims. I have read that the molecules of HA are too big and do not absorb well into the skin, but I have never used any of these products to make any conclusion. Post a testimonial if you've used this stuff. ..................Matt

Measles

Thanks for the recent comments. The important stories are usually buried. And, I agree. The "made in the USA" campaign should make a comeback. I think most of the prescription drugs are manufactured over there too. Yikes.

Is it a coincidence that the new measles outbreak follows the recent march on Washington and the celebrity publicity that has gained national attention on the autism/vaccination link? The CDC scare tactic comes in response to the increasing number of parents who are now rejecting the MMR vaccine and vaccines in general. Of course, the CDC and the media are going to report a significant nationwide outbreak caused by unvaccinated individuals. Fear works wonders.

I found this article that's a couple of months old, but it's relevant to what's happening right now. The girls also have a pediatrician appointment on Monday. Can't wait for that. .........Matt

***Seeds of eggplants help develop immunity against measles for a year. Intake of half gram to 1 gram of these seeds daily for 3 days is beneficial.(that's what I read, anyway) Also, try colloidal silver and olive leaf extract. These should help.

Olympic Performance

The Olympics are coming up and you know what that means... Politics, sportsmanship, and cheating. Today, I took a look at the 2008 International Olympic Committee list of banned substances. It's a long list, but is it long enough? I say, records are made to be broken, even if you have to eat a root in pill form to do it.

Assuming the list I read is complete and accurate, and I didn't miss anything, these legal supplements, not yet on the Committee's radar, will definitely give you an advantage over any athlete competing for a medal.

The gold is the payoff. Do some talk shows, get some endorsements, and pray that the World Anti-Doping Agency doesn't know how to test for your special performance enhancer.

Amino Acids: A simple protein shake is better than nothing, but you need high amounts of arginine and glutamine. The problem is..protein drinks don't contain ornithine or carnitine. You need these, because you can't win without human growth hormone. Add colostrum for enhanced effect.

Natural Testosterone: Eastern Europeans are always huge. That's because they have some good herbs. Plant chemicals like ecdysterone and methoxyisoflavone are sure to please, and the always popular tribulus gives the Euros something to cheer about. (could test positive for increased testosterone levels, but you're playing for the gold and a chance to be a C-list celebrity.... it's worth it)

(the wild card)

TCM: Traditional Chinese Medicine has been around for thousands of years. They know how to reduce stress and increase oxygen uptake with the cordyceps mushroom, ginseng and royal jelly. Apparently, the actual, ancient Chinese secret is turtle blood...probably because it's slow and easy to kill. Try testing for that Anti-Doping No Fun Committee. Expect the Chinese to be in the top three for total medals won.

Let the games begin. ........Matt

Medical News

I couldn't help myself. There's actually some good headlines. You probably already saw these stories, but they are blog worthy.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) now recommends cholesterol drugs for children. It's official, the AAP is now irrelevant. Whatever happened to fat camp? Take away the Hostess Cupcakes and fine the parents for nutritional neglect.

http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-health/20080708/MED.Children.Cholesterol/

Isn't it funny how the FDA constantly approves dangerous drugs that don't work and then warns the consumer 1-2 years later after thousands of people suffer and die.

http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-health/20080708/MED.Antibiotics.Warning/

I'll say it again. Chelation therapy is safe and effective. Don't let this biased article discourage you. Vaccinations still contain mercury or aluminum, or both.

Cankill Shot

I first started talking about how dangerous and ineffective the cervical cancer vaccine was a few months ago, and now the FDA has confirmed that thousands of health problems and deaths have been reported.

Until now, this has largely gone unreported by the media because of their unholy alliance with Big Pharma.

Finally, this morning, months after it should have made headlines, CNN briefly reported that the FDA has received 8000 complaints and reports of 10 deaths (probably twice that many) following the injection from Gardasil administered to young girls. The FDA documents these as adverse events which include paralysis and death.

So, at least 8000 serious health problems and 10 deaths (more like 15-20) have been attributed to the Cankill vaccine, and yet, your pediatrician and some states want to make this mandatory.

Is this good advice?....forcing children to take a deadly and unproven drug. Our pals at the CDC say there is no connection between the shots and health related problems. And Merck, the maker of Gardasil, claims that it's a coincidence that little girls became ill or died after receiving the shot.

Parents, think real hard before you agree to this "vaccine". It's not worth the risk. Don't let doctors and Big Pharma convince you otherwise. ........Matt

As a reminder, Merck would like you to know...

from (gardasil.com)

GARDASIL may not fully protect everyone, and does not prevent all types of cervical cancer, so it’s important to continue routine cervical cancer screenings. GARDASIL will not protect against diseases caused by other HPV types or against diseases not caused by HPV.

The side effects include pain, swelling, itching, and redness at the injection site, fever, nausea, dizziness, vomiting, and fainting. GARDASIL is given as 3 injections over 6 months.(the triple threat) They forgot to mention a couple of the more serious side effects.

The U.S. isn't the only place where adverse events are common. See what's happening down under.

Chem Milk for Babies

You know, Jennifer, I've tried portabella and morels, and I just can't get into them. It would be a great alternative if I could choke them down.

My wife attempted to steam the veggie dogs, but said they were terrible. "Browned" in a pan is the only way to make them edible.

(topic change)

This link to a story about bisphenol A in infant formula containers is alarming. I remember the pediatrician giving us many cans of formula when we took the babies for a check up. Luckily, we rarely used the stuff. The amount of chemicals that we are bombarded with starting at an early age is unbelievable. Don't wait for the government to label something toxic and remove it from the market. Positive changes will never be made unless the public demands it. .........Matt

Hold the Meat

Jennifer, I don't know what to think about that veggie meat. My wife likes some of the stuff if you cook it just right, but half of it ends up in the garbage. The black bean veggie burger that I can eat is good, but not good enough to eat more than once a week unless I'm out of all other meat products. Let me know if you find any that don't have any wheat, soy, corn, potato, rice, or spinach,...or tomato. That's the one for me. ...........Matt
