A vegan is a more strict variation of a vegetarian.
Vegetarians do not eat animal flesh, but some may include eggs, cheese, milk and other substances obtained from animals, things that are not technically classified as meat. Vegans refrain from consuming or using any animal-derivative products: foods, medicines, cosmetics, vitamins, supplements, and beverages.
If it came from an animal, in any way at all, a vegan will exclude it.
Some vegans include any conscious living entity, aside from the vegetable kingdom, including insects. They will, for example, not use honey, since it comes from bees, but they will eat pollen, which is generated by plants, which are generally (though not universally) not considered conscious or capable of desiring, thinking, or feeling pain.
Are you a vegan?
If so, you're definitely not alone. Many famous people, past and present, are aligned with your rigorous opposition to animal consumption. Reasons vary from philosophical (animal rights, non-harming, non-anthropocentrism or eco/bio-centrism) to personal health.
If you've never thought much about veganism, perhaps these individuals will spark an interest in the topic.
