Local Eater teen blog

Check out this blog by a Local Eater teenager.

An Experiment in Eating

If you've ever wondered what you might start a blog about, consider doing one devoted to a special project, diet, or hobby you enjoy. Sharing your experiences and expertise is what blogging's all about. In this blog, we get a glimpse into the adventures of a charming young lady who decided to take charge of her nutrition and increase her health.

My two week experiment of eating locally grown food versus Target food.

For the next week I will be eating only locally grown food. For me, this means eating food grown or produced in my home state, Minnesota, the Dakotas, Iowa, and Wisconsin. The following week I will be eating only food that can be bought at Target.

The experiment is to figure out which is better based on economic factors, nutrition, lifestyle factors, accessibility, variety, and locality of food.

How this project will translate into daily life...

I do not think that my family will turn to full fledged eating locally, but now that we do know which brands are local, we will purchase those. We will also purchase our produce from the farmers' market in the summer. We are now a hundred times more knowledgeable about what eating locally means and how to go through with it, thus we will be more inclined to eat locally grown food.
